Following Sunday’s attack on the residence of Alhaji Saleh Seidu, the Onibaasi of Baasi land, His Royal Highness, Oba Sunday Azeez Babatunde has allayed the fear of residents of the community, assuring them of adequate security People’s lives and property.
Oba Babatunde gave the assurance at a peace meeting held in his palace, to commiserate with Gbari settlers over the demise of their loved one during a kidnapping attempt that occurred on Sunday night.
Kaseem Jenrade reports that the monarch noted that the community was working in collaboration with security agencies to unravel the circumstances surrounding the dastardly act and bring the perpetrators to book.
While assuring them of adequate security in his town, the traditional ruler urged the settlers to be security conscious and always report any suspicious movement to the police for prompt action, adding that the culprits will not go scot free.
Oba Babatunde used the occasion to inform the people of government support and steps taken by the present administration to make Oyo State worth living for all and sundry.
According to him, the state government under the leadership of Engr. Seyi Makinde, has established a police post in Baasi town to nip crime and criminality in the bud
While charging the settlers to take it as an act of God, the monarch, who prayed for the repose of the deceased, also prayed to God to give the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
Recall that unknown gunmen on Sunday night stormed the home of Alhaji Seidu in Baasi community of Atisbo Local Government Area of Oyo State, with the intention to whisk him away.
When the operation was unsuccessful, the attackers eventually killed one of his wives after inflicting serious injuries on him.
Reports explained that the woman had been buried since the following day according to Islamic rites, while their target, Alhaji Seidu is currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.
