The Registrar, University of Calabar, Dr. Chukwuka Icha, has reiterated the institution’s ban on wild post-examination celebrations and other acts capable of disrupting peace on campus, expressing concern that some final-year students, usually engaged in unlawful celebrations, after their final examinations.
Dr. Icha disclosed the management’s directive in a statement issued in Calabar on Monday, urging all students especially finalists, to desist from such acts, which include reckless driving, flying of colours and other forms of disorderly conduct, and comply with the university’s regulations.
“The ban on wild celebrations within the campus, around the school gates and all cult-related activities remain in force.
“The management will not hesitate to sanction any student or group found violating the directive,” she said.
She added that the institution’s Acting Chief Security Officer had been directed to ensure strict enforcement across the campus and its environs.
The registrar however urged members of the university community to take note of the directive and comply accordingly.

It will be recalled that a serious crash occurred in the school premises in 2024, involving final year students, who just wrote their last paper and were celebrating wildly on campus.
