Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf has officially returned to the ruling All Progressives Congress.
Governor Yusuf was received into the party by the former National Chairman of the APC and ex-Kano State governor, Abdullahi Ganduje; Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin; Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Yusuf Ata; and other party leaders, at the Coronation Hall of the Kano Government House on Monday.
Speaking on the development, governor Yusuf said his return to the APC was necessitated by the need to work more closely with the Federal Government led by President Bola Tinubu.
Recall that the governor, elected on the platform of the New Nigeria Peoples Party in 2023, resigned from the party alongside several members of the Kano State House of Assembly and the House of Representatives.
Meanwhile, son of the 2023 presidential candidate of the NNPP, Rabiu Kwankwaso, Mustapha Kwankwaso has resigned his appointment as Kano State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development.
Kwankwaso announced this in a statement posted on his official Facebook account on Monday, expressing gratitude to Governor Yusuf for the opportunity to serve in his administration.

He also appreciated the governor for the confidence reposed in him, adding that he has garnered valuable experiences and lessons while serving the people of the state.
Kwankwaso expressed hope that the youth and sports sectors would continue to receive adequate attention under the present administration, stressing the need for sustained investment in youth empowerment and sports development.
“It is with a heavy heart that I announce my resignation as Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Youth and Sports Development and member of the Kano State Executive Council,”
“I want to express my deepest gratitude to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for the opportunity to serve the great people of Kano State. I have cherished the experiences and lessons gained while serving, and I appreciate the trust placed in me,” the statement read.
Reports explained that the resignation comes amid ongoing political realignments within the Kano State Government, following the Governor’s recent exit from the NNPP.
