A Federal High Court sitting in Ibadan has nullified the National Convention of the People’s Democratic Party held in Ibadan, on November 15, 2025.
The Ibadan convention, which produced a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, as the PDP National Chairman, amid tight Security, as factional groups exchanged accusations, prompting brief disruptions before the commencement of voting.
The court barred Turaki and others from parading themselves as national officers of the PDP.
The court also ruled that the Caretaker Committee led by Abdulrahman and Senator Samuel Anyanwu is the only recognised National Working Committee of the PDP, pending the conduct of a valid National Convention.

Meanwhile, the Turaki-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party has announced plans to appeal the judgment, following the court’s refusal to grant an order of mandamus.
In a statement posted by PDP’s National Publicity Secretary on X account, Ini Ememobong, the Turaki-led PDP faction confirmed that it has instructed its legal team to immediately file an appeal and pursue all necessary legal steps to protect its position in the matter.
Despite the setback, the party emphasised that the Kabiru Turaki-led faction, which emerged from the Ibadan Convention, remains legally intact and unshaken.
