Association of Resident Doctors at the University College Hospital, Ibadan, have begun a three-day warning strike on Monday 12th October, 2026.
The Association, led by its Chairman, Dr. Uthman Adedeji, said it reached the decision to down tools during an emergency general meeting held virtually to discuss the nine-month electricity blackout plaguing the college of medicine residential axis.
According to the group, healthcare workers in the zone have faced severe hardship due to prolonged epileptic power supply.

It also lamented that inter-institutional bottlenecks between the college of medicine of the University of Ibadan and the UCH management, have affected the students negatively.
The group added that the persistent blackout had also triggered water shortage, forcing doctors to trek long distances, patronise private business centres, and pay out of pocket to transport water for basic survival.
The association however appealed to management of UCH to urgently address the issue of the epileptic power supply affecting health workers.
