119-Year-Old Olupasa Laments Neglect of Ipasa Community

The Olupasa of Ipasaland in Surulere Local Government Area of Oyo State, Oba Olasunkanmi Popoola has lamented what he described as neglect of the community by the state government.

Oba Popoola raised the concern in an interview with a correspondent of the Federal Radio Corporation Nigeria in Oko, saying the community lacks good roads, potable water, electricity, health centre and academic institutions.

The traditional ruler stated that the Ipasa Community had not benefited from developmental projects of the present administration in the state.

The 119-year-old monarch said farmers in the community face difficulties in transporting their farm produce to towns and markets for sale.

He explained that residents are often forced to carry their farm produce on their heads because motorists and commercial motorcyclists have stopped accessing the farms due to the poor state of the road network around the community.

Oba Popoola however appealed to the Oyo State Government under Governor Seyi Makinde to come to their aid by providing all necessary amenities needed for socio-economic development of the area.

Residents of the community also expressed displeasure on the current state of the town, calling on the government to intervene and provide basic amenities to improve people’s well-beings.
