4 Months After Coronation; Olubadan Visits President Tinubu In Abuja

President Bola Tinubu on Friday received the Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, Arusa 1, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Oba Ladoja’s visit came less than four months after his formal installation as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland in September 2025.

The monarch’s visit was also coming just a day after Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, visited the President in Abuja.

The meeting marked Olubadan’s first official visit to the president since his ascension to the throne, as details of their discussions were not disclosed.

President Tinubu was governor of Lagos state between 1999 and 2007, while Ladoja was Oyo state governor between 2003 and 2007, amid political turmoil that rocked his administration.

Oba Ladoja succeeded late Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, Ige Olakulehin 1, who died in July 2025, after reigning for almost a year on the throne.

Governor Makinde had formally approved his appointment as Olubadan in September 2025.

The former Governor of Oyo state emerged as Olubadan in line with Ibadan’s rotational chieftaincy system, which alternates between both the civil (Egbe Agba) and military (Balogun) ruling lines.

Prior to his emergence as monarch, Oba Ladoja had been the Otun Olubadan since August 2024, a position that placed him at the top of the line of succession.
