Super Eagles shot stopper, Stanley Nwabali has apologized to Nigerians, following the team’s defeat to the Democratic Republic of Congo in the World Cup playoff, saying the team gave everything for the badge in their push for a ticket to participate in the 2026 global tournament.
Nwabali in a post on Instagram after the match on Sunday, said he was once a fan of the Super Eagles and understands how it feels giving you a disappointing night, adding that the team’s “best wasn’t enough” and the players “take full responsibility.”
Nigeria’s hopes ended after a 4–3 penalty shootout loss to DR Congo in the African playoff final, with the game tied 1–1 after extra time.
The shot-stopper saved two kicks in the shootout, but it was not enough to cancel out misses from winger, Moses Simon and defenders, Calvin Bassey and Semi Ajayi.
