President Bola Tinubu has postponed his scheduled trip to Johannesburg, South Africa and Luanda, Angola, as he awaits further security briefings on the kidnapped Kebbi schoolgirls, as well as the unfortunate attack on worshippers at the Christ Apostolic Church in Eruku, Kwara State.
In a statement signed by the Special Adviser to the President
on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu also directed both the military and police to go after the attackers of the church and deploy more security personnel to Eruku to ensure adequate protection of people’s lives and property in the entire Ekiti Local Government Area of the state.
He however reiterated his directive to the security agencies to do everything possible to rescue the 24 schoolgirls, abducted by the bandits and bring them back home safely.
The Nigerian leader, earlier scheduled to leave Abuja for the 20th G20 Summit in South Africa before heading to Angola for the 7th AU-EU Summit, now awaits reports from Vice President Kashim Shettima, who led the presidential delegation on a sympathy visit to Kebbi, as well as reports from the police and the Department of State Services regarding the Kwara attack.
