Plateau Community Commends Govt Electricity Intervention, After 20 years Of Blackout

Residents of Namu Community in Quan’Pan Local Government Area of Plateau State have received a major boost in electricity supply, after living in darkness for more than two decades, following the commissioning of a 50-kilowatt solar mini-grid project.

The council Chairman, Christopher Manchip, commended the state governor, Caleb Mutfwang for the initiative, which he noted has brought development back to the grassroots and lifted the people from “poverty to progress.”

The project, implemented through a partnership between the United Nations Development Programme, Rural Electrification Agency, Global Environment Facility, Plateau State Energy Corporation, and Cloud Energy, aims at providing reliable power to rural communities across the state.

Speaking during the commissioning, Governor Mutfwang described the project as a new chapter in the development of Namu and other rural communities that had been living in total blackout for a long time, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to improving the lives of rural dwellers through electricity, road construction, and water supply.

The governor added that the commissioning of the solar project was a significant milestone, which represents “the beginning of a journey of transformation” for not only Quan’Pan council but the whole of Plateau State.
