Former Governor of Ondo State, Olusegun Mimiko, has called for the decentralization of the country’s security architecture, stressing the need for effective security at the local community level.
Mimiko in a statement shared with Sunday PUNCH, made the remarks at a program organized by a private security outfit in Ese Odo Local Government Area of the state.
The former governor, who chaired the event, spoke as the incumbent governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, former Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, Ndutimi Alaibe, and a former chairman of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, Kingsley Kuku, all lauded the founder’s patriotic role in sustaining peace in the Niger Delta region.
He maintained that the government must decentralise the security architecture, if the country was serious about tackling insecurity and achieving tangible results.
while commending the organization’s contribution to the state’s peace, governor Aiyedatiwa, represented by his deputy, Olaide Adelani, promised to maintain the synergy between the government and the firm.
”We remain committed to strengthening the security architecture in the state, which includes collaborating with well-meaning individuals like Ajube. We will continue to work closely with responsible partners like Gallery Security Services.” He stated.
Dignitaries at the event include; former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godsday Orubebe; Olusola Oke, SAN; royal fathers, including the Olowo of Owo and Chairman of the Ondo State Council of Traditional Rulers, Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin; as well as the Agadagba of Arogbo Kingdom, Zaccheus Egbunu, among others.
