The Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, Arusa 1, has implored chiefs to see the honour bestowed on them as a call for sacrifice, rather than an avenue to display glamour.
Oba Ladoja made this declaration today, while elevating seven senior chiefs in the Otun Chieftaincy line.
Speaking at the programme, held at the magnificent Olubadan Palace, Oke Aremo area of the ancient City, had in attendance dignitaries from all walks of life, Oba Ladoja also stated that the era of glamour in royalty is gone for good.
“Now, royalty is about what you have to offer your community. It is about ministering to the needs of the indigent in our midst. It is about ameliorating the condition of our people” he said.
Olubadan described the newly promoted chiefs as men of means and influence with capacities to positively touch people’s lives.
The newly promoted Chiefs include; veteran journalist and Public Relations maestro, Oloye Lekan Alabi,from Maye to Abese Olubadan, Senior Chief Ismaila Akinade Fijabi from Ekefa to Maye Olubadan, and Senior Chief Saka Fola Lapade, from Agbaakin to Ekefa Olubadan.

Former Senate Leader, Teslim Folarin is promoted from Aare Alaasa to Agbaakin Olubadan, while Senior Chief Muibi Ademola Adewuyi from Ikolaba to Aare Alaasa Olubadan, Senior Chief Raufu Delesolu from Asaaju to Ikolaba Olubadan while and Senior Chief Hammed Lanihun from Ayingun to Ikolaba Olubadan respectively.
