The Vice chairman, Egbeda local government and Political Head, Ajorosun Local Council Development Authority, Ibrahim Oladebo popularly known as Simple on Wednesday put smiles on the faces of widows, youths and elderly people in the community.
Hon. Oladebo also presented awards of excellence to some selected staff and political associates for their commitment and support over the years.
Speaking during the program, held at the council Secretariat, Olodo, Hon. Oladebo explained that the initiative was borne out of his philanthropic gesture to ensure that people, especially the less privileged in the council area, experience a splendid New year celebration in their various homes.
The council boss, who urged political office holders and other well meaning individuals in the society to also extend support to the needy, assured residents of Hon. Sikiru Sanda led-administration’s commitment to embark on more developmental projects in the New year.
“Today is 31st December 2025, as we are marching to 2026 in some hours to this time, we organized this program as an annual program, we normally organize it to give back to society, encourage the widows and widowers, the youth, community people and party members as well.
“That’s why we are distributing tokens to them so that they too will enjoy the festive period in their various houses.
I just want to encourage other political office holders, even individuals that are opportuned to have more than others, please let’s show mercy to people around us, let’s give people things so that they too will be happy as we are happy” he advised.
While congratulating the awardees, the former Leader of the Egbeda local government Legislative Arm, charged the council staff to be more diligent in the discharge of their duties, stressing that the decision to reward excellence was to motivate them to be more committed to service.
In his remarks, PDP chairman in Egbeda local government, Chief Ebenezer Alawe, commended the generous nature of the council head, praying that God reward him abundantly.
Highlight of the event, which had political leaders and other stakeholders in attendance, was the presentation of awards to the beneficiaries, as well as distribution of cash gifts to widows, youth, aged people, among others.
Some of the awardees and beneficiaries in separate interviews, appreciated Hon. Oladebo for the support and recognition, praying that God grants his future political aspirations.
