Oyo PDP Lawmaker Dumps Party, Joins ADC

The lawmaker representing Ibadan North-West State Constituency in the Oyo State House of Assembly, Dawood Olalere, popularly known as D-Al Ameen, has officially announced resignation of his membership from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party and joined the African Democratic Congress in the state.

Olalere, in a letter dated February 13, 2026, and addressed to the Chairman of the Ward 7, PDP, in Ibadan North-West Local Government, a copy of which was obtained by newsmen in Ibadan on Monday, explained that his decision to dump the party takes immediate effect.

The Lawmaker attributed the development to what he described as “long lingering and unresolvable division bedevilling the party, noting that the move, in consideration of the interests of his supporters, aligned with his personal values.

He was officially received and welcomed into the ADC by the party’s state Chairman, Yinka Olona, at the event held at St. Patrick Primary School, Abebi, Ibadan, alongside his teeming supporters.

“My choice of ADC is burn out of my desire and conviction for a better Nigeria.” Olalere said.

Reacting to the new addition to the ADC, the party’s state Publicity Secretary, Bimbo Adelowo, said the defection of the serving lawmaker would not only boost the membership strength of the party but also exhibit its seriousness and preparedness for 2027 general elections.
